Fuelwood Trees

Hybrid poplars growing in the Fuelwood Plantation provide the many benefits of trees, from anchoring the soil to sequestering carbon and producing oxygen. Once harvested, they provide a clean, renewable energy source used to heat and cool Lied Lodge & Conference Center. After they are harvested by “coppicing,” these trees will re-sprout from their stumps, producing a new crop of trees for biomass energy in as little as 6 years.
