Scout Activities at Arbor Day Farm

Earn badges, learn about the conservation practices in use at Arbor Day Farm, enjoy a day of nature exploration -- and most of all, have fun!

Scout Day is Saturday, October 15, 2011
10am-4pm


Back by popular demand, Scout Day at Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure is your opportunity to participate in self-guided and facilitated badgework activities in the great outdoors -- all included with your Tree Adventure admission. ($6.50 per adult, $4.50 per scout.)

Facilitated activities available for scheduling on Scout Day, October 15, 2011:

Tree Sleuth 11:00am,  Noon,  2:00pm,  3:00pm
Dendochronology
(how to read tree rings)		 11:00am,  1:00pm
Food Chain Noon,  2:00pm
Nature Journaling 10:00am, Noon
Owl Pellet Dissection Ongoing throughout the day; allow 45-60 minutes
Leaving an Impression 11:00am,  1:00pm,  3:00pm
Preservation Orchard Noon,  2:00pm


To reserve space for your scouts in these activities, drop us an email with your name, your troop number, and the number of scouts for each activity. We'll take care of the rest.

Don't forget about lunch!
Arbor Day Farm's Pie Garden Cafe (inside the Apple House Market) serves tasty lunch items for your scouts -- hot dogs, burgers, brats, chicken wraps, nachos -- or you may bring your own food for our picnic tables on site.

Self-guided activities available all day on Scout Day (included with admission):

  • Corn Maze: 1.5 acres on site, next to the Pumpkin Patch
  • Tree seedling to take home and plant
  • ALL NEW Fall Nature Scavenger Hunt
  • Museum Discovery Hiker Badge Work
  • Native American Plant Uses and Nature’s Remedies

Available for an additional charge during your visit to Arbor Day Farm:

  • Discovery Ride: a one-hour guided tour into the backwoods ($4.00 adult, $3.00 scout)
  • U-Pick Apple Orchard: a classic fall experience! $8 for a 5 pound bag, $12 for a 10 pound bag and $19 for a 20 pound bag (half bushel)
